China to Bangladesh shipping cost guide — 2026 rates per kg, time, and lane breakdown
How much does shipping from China to Bangladesh cost in 2026? Air freight starts at ৳750/kg (3–6 days). Sensitive goods (batteries, cosmetics) cost more. Sea freight drops to ৳280/kg for bulky orders. This guide breaks down every lane with real per-kg rates, three worked examples (50 earbuds, 100 t-shirts, 1 sofa), and what actually slows down delivery.
Direct answer: Air shipping from China to Bangladesh costs ৳750 per kg for general goods (3–6 days door-to-door to Dhaka or Chattogram), ৳1,150/kg for sensitive goods like batteries or perfume (3–5 days), ৳850/kg for cosmetics with BSTI clearance (18–25 days), and ৳280/kg for sea freight (30–35 days, minimum 2 kg). The rate per kilogram is what dominates — air, sea, and the specific lane matter more than the supplier you buy from. Below is the full breakdown.
How much does shipping from China to Bangladesh actually cost?
Most BD importers assume shipping cost is some opaque number a freight forwarder reveals at the port. It's not. There are only four lanes from China to Bangladesh, each with a published per-kg rate. Once you know your product weight and which lane it falls into, you can calculate the shipping cost to the taka:
| Lane | What ships on it | Per kg | Minimum charge | Door-to-door time |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| General air (default) | Clothes, plastics, hardware, electronics without batteries | ৳750 | ৳400 | 3–6 days |
| Sensitive air | Batteries, power banks, earbuds, liquids, magnets, perfume | ৳1,150 | ৳600 | 3–5 days |
| Cosmetic air (BSTI lane) | Cosmetics, makeup, skincare requiring BSTI clearance | ৳850 | ৳500 | 18–25 days |
| Sea freight | Furniture, machinery, bulk hardware (anything >5 kg + non-urgent) | ৳280 | ৳1,000 (min 2 kg) | 30–35 days |
These rates are the per-kg cost from the supplier's gate in China all the way to your door in Bangladesh — air freight, customs clearance, BSTI testing if applicable, and last-mile delivery in Dhaka or Chattogram are all included. No surprise port fees.

Why "it depends" — the 4 lanes explained
General air freight — ৳750/kg
This is the default lane for anything without batteries, liquids, or special clearance. T-shirts, hardware tools, kitchen items, phone cases, decor — if you can stack it in a box and it isn't going to leak or explode, it ships here. 3–6 days from your supplier in China to your door in Bangladesh, including all customs clearance.
Most CIEF Source BD orders use this lane.
Sensitive air freight — ৳1,150/kg
Air freight rules require airlines to charge more for cargo classified as "dangerous goods" or restricted. In practice for our customers, that means:
- Anything with a built-in lithium battery (power banks, TWS earbuds, smartwatches, fitness trackers, wireless chargers, e-cigarettes)
- Liquids over 100 ml (perfumes, essential oils, lotions, shampoos)
- Strong magnets (>10mm or rare-earth)
- Aerosols, flammables, alcohol-based products
The premium is the airline's safety overhead, not our markup. The good news: it's still 3–5 days door-to-door.
Cosmetic lane (BSTI-cleared) — ৳850/kg
Bangladesh requires BSTI (Bangladesh Standards and Testing Institution) testing for imported cosmetics, skincare, and makeup before they can legally enter the market. The testing itself isn't expensive, but it adds 18–25 days while the goods sit at Chattogram clearance.
The trade-off: this lane is cheaper than the sensitive lane (৳850 vs ৳1,150/kg) but much slower. Most cosmetics customers accept the wait because the alternative is paying the ৳1,150 sensitive-lane rate AND still going through BSTI.
Sea freight — ৳280/kg
The cheapest option. 30–35 days door-to-door, with a 2 kg minimum shipment weight. Sea makes sense when:
- You're shipping bulky/heavy items (furniture, kitchen appliances, machinery, exercise equipment)
- The order is large enough that the per-piece air freight cost would crush your margins
- You can plan 30+ days ahead
For a typical reseller buying a few-kilo trial shipment, sea is too slow. For a small business ordering a single sofa, sea is the only sane choice — air would cost more than the sofa.
Three real examples — what you'd actually pay
Example 1: 50 bluetooth earbuds (TWS)
- Per-unit weight: ~80g packaged → total ~4 kg
- Lane: Sensitive (built-in lithium batteries)
- Shipping cost: 4 kg × ৳1,150 = ৳4,600
- Plus the supplier cost (~50 × ¥28 = ¥1,400 ≈ ৳20,300) and our service fee (~15%)
- Estimated all-in delivered cost: ~৳28,500 for 50 units
- Time: 3–5 days door-to-door
Real worked example from our Alibaba BD vs CIEF Source BD comparison article.
Example 2: 100 cotton t-shirts
- Per-unit weight: ~200g → total ~20 kg
- Lane: General air (no batteries, no liquid)
- Shipping cost: 20 kg × ৳750 = ৳15,000
- Plus supplier cost + service fee
- Time: 3–6 days
Example 3: 1 sofa (3-seater)
- Weight: ~45 kg + ~0.5 m³ volume
- Lane: Sea (way too heavy for economical air)
- Shipping cost: ~45 kg × ৳280 = ৳12,600 (sea is volume-aware, so the 0.5 m³ may push it slightly; we quote exactly at order time)
- Time: 30–35 days
If you tried to fly that sofa air-freight: 45 kg × ৳750 = ৳33,750 — almost 3× the sea cost.
What actually slows shipping down
Customers often ask why their friend's order took 4 days but theirs took 22 days. Usually one of these:
- BSTI testing (cosmetics only). Adds 18–25 days regardless of carrier. Not negotiable.
- Customs holds for HS code mismatch. Common when supplier's commercial invoice description doesn't match what the goods actually are. CIEF reviews this at order time so it rarely happens for us, but for DIY imports it adds 5–10 days.
- Public holidays. Chinese New Year (late Jan / early Feb) shuts down most factories for 2–3 weeks. Eid holidays in BD slow customs clearance.
- Air freight backlog during peak season (Sept–Nov, leading into Christmas global rush). Adds 2–4 days.
- Mixed-cargo consolidation. If your shipment is consolidated with other orders, it leaves China when the consolidator's container is full. Usually adds 2–3 days. For urgent orders, ask us to ship standalone — it's slightly more expensive but cuts the wait.
DIY vs. shipping agent vs. CIEF-bundled — what changes the cost
If you arrange shipping yourself directly with a Chinese freight forwarder:
| Cost line | DIY direct | CIEF bundled |
|---|---|---|
| Per-kg air rate | Often ৳600–700 (you negotiate) | ৳750 (published, no negotiation needed) |
| Customs clearance | ৳2,000–4,000 (your agent) | included |
| BSTI testing fee (cosmetics) | ৳3,000–6,000 + your time | included |
| Last-mile to Dhaka/Chattogram | ৳800–1,500 (courier) | included |
| Disputed-shipment recovery | Your problem | CIEF handles |
| BDT vs USD currency risk | Yours | We hedge it |
For high-volume regular importers with established agent relationships, DIY is genuinely a few percent cheaper. For everyone else — and that's where almost every CIEF customer started — the bundled rate ends up at or below DIY once you count the agent fees and your own time.
How to calculate your own shipment in 30 seconds
- Weight: Look at your supplier's product listing — the gross weight per piece (often labelled 毛重 in 1688 listings).
- Multiply by quantity to get total kg.
- Pick your lane:
- No batteries, no liquid, no cosmetic → General (৳750/kg)
- Has battery / liquid / magnet / aerosol → Sensitive (৳1,150/kg)
- Cosmetic or skincare → Cosmetic BSTI lane (৳850/kg, +18–25 days)
- Over 5 kg, not urgent → consider Sea (৳280/kg)
- Multiply weight × per-kg rate. That's your shipping cost, fully delivered to your door.

Frequently asked questions
How much is shipping from China to Bangladesh per kg in 2026?
Air freight starts at ৳750/kg for general goods (3–6 days door-to-door). Sensitive goods (batteries, liquids, magnets) are ৳1,150/kg (3–5 days). Cosmetics on the BSTI-cleared lane are ৳850/kg (18–25 days because of mandatory testing). Sea freight is ৳280/kg (30–35 days, 2 kg minimum). These rates include customs clearance and last-mile delivery to Dhaka or Chattogram.
How long does shipping from China to Bangladesh take?
Air freight is 3–6 days for general goods, 3–5 days for sensitive goods, and 18–25 days for cosmetics (BSTI clearance is the bottleneck). Sea freight is 30–35 days. Chinese New Year (late Jan / early Feb) and Eid in BD add 1–2 weeks if your order falls across those windows.
Is sea freight worth it from China to Bangladesh?
Sea freight pays off when your shipment is over 5 kg AND you can wait 30+ days. For a 45 kg sofa, sea costs ~৳12,600 vs ৳33,750 air — a no-brainer. For a 4 kg batch of earbuds, the per-kg saving is wiped out by the 30-day delay. Rule of thumb: if it's heavy and you don't need it tomorrow, ship sea.
What's a "shipping agent" in this context?
A China-to-Bangladesh shipping agent is a forwarder who consolidates your goods at a Chinese warehouse, books air or sea freight, files Bangladesh customs paperwork, and arranges last-mile delivery. CIEF Source BD bundles all of this into our published per-kg rate — you don't manage a separate agent relationship.
Why is shipping more expensive for cosmetics?
Two reasons. (1) BSTI testing fees are baked into the cosmetic lane rate. (2) Chemical and skincare shipments have stricter customs review, which sometimes requires repacking or extra documentation. The ৳850/kg cosmetic rate is the all-in number — there are no surprise BSTI fees added later.
Can I ship from China to Bangladesh without a freight forwarder?
Technically yes — you can pay your supplier to ship directly via EMS, China Post, or a courier like DHL / FedEx. But: (a) you'd pay full retail courier rates (often ৳2,500–4,000/kg for door-to-door), (b) customs would still hold your shipment for clearance, and (c) you'd handle BSTI or BTCL approvals yourself. For anything above 2 kg, using a forwarder (or CIEF) saves money.
Do you ship anywhere outside Dhaka and Chattogram?
Yes — our published rate covers door-to-door in Dhaka, Chattogram, Sylhet, and Khulna. For other districts we deliver to the nearest courier hub at no extra cost; you collect from the hub or we add a small transparent last-mile fee at quote time.
Why are CIEF's per-kg rates higher than what I see on 1688?
What you see on 1688 is the China-domestic shipping rate (factory to a Chinese consolidator's warehouse) — usually ¥10–30 per parcel. That gets your goods to the consolidator, not to Bangladesh. The China-to-BD international leg, customs clearance, and BD last-mile are separate. Our published per-kg rate is the international + customs + last-mile all bundled together.
How accurate is the supplier's stated weight?
For most 1688 listings, the 毛重 (gross weight) is accurate within ±10%. Some suppliers under-state weight to attract orders — we catch this during quote review and adjust the shipping cost honestly. If the actual airline weight comes in higher than quoted, we eat the difference; we don't surprise-bill you at delivery.
