Dropshipping from China to Bangladesh (2026): realistic playbook

Most "dropshipping Bangladesh" tutorials online are written by people who don't actually ship to BD. The reality: classic dropshipping (zero inventory, one item per shipment from China) doesn't work for most BD products because per-package freight costs are too high relative to the typical BD AOV.

Here's what actually works.

Why pure dropshipping is hard for BD

Per-package freight from China to Bangladesh is roughly:

• 100g item air: ~৳400 minimum (you pay even though "actual" is ৳75)
• 500g item air: ~৳400
• 1kg item air: ~৳750

If you're selling a ৳600 retail item that cost ¥18 (~৳260), you make ৳340 gross — but freight per single package is ৳400. You lose money before customs.

Compare to Pakistan or India dropshipping where per-package air can be ৳150–250 thanks to higher volume routes — those numbers work; BD's don't.

The 3 BD-realistic models

Model A — "Small bulk + your own re-pack" (most common)

• Order 20–100 units to a CN warehouse → consolidated into one shipment to your BD address
• You hold inventory at home / a small godown
• Ship to BD customers via Pathao / Steadfast / RedX
• Per-unit shipping cost drops from ৳400/pkg to ৳30–80/pkg (domestic BD)

Cost example, 50 units of a 200g item:

• Product: 50 × ¥18 = ৳13,050
• Freight: 50 × 0.2 kg = 10 kg × ৳750/kg = ৳7,500
• Service fee: ৳1,958 (15%)
• Per-unit landed: ৳450

You sell at ৳700–900 on Facebook/Daraz, net margin ৳250–450 per unit. This is the BD dropshipping reality — call it "light bulk".

Model B — "Pre-order / batch fulfillment"

• Take pre-orders on Facebook page or via DM
• Once you have 15–30 orders for the same SKU, you bulk-order from 1688
• Ship to customers after the CIEF shipment arrives (10–14 days)
• Zero inventory risk, customers wait

Works well for non-urgent categories: home decor, fashion accessories, kids items. Doesn't work for impulse buys or gift-with-tomorrow-deadline.

Model C — "Dark warehouse via CIEF"

• You keep inventory in our Dhaka warehouse (small fee per month)
• Daraz/Facebook order comes in → you forward order → we pick & ship locally
• True dropshipping experience without the freight math headache
• Available on request once your monthly volume crosses ~50 orders

What we don't recommend

Pure single-package dropshipping — listing 1688 SKUs on your storefront with "ships in 7-14 days", drop-ship each order one at a time. The math just doesn't work for BD AOV. You'll lose ৳50–200 per order on freight alone.

How to start (specific steps)

1. Pick a category with proven BD demand — see our top 10 categories article
2. Sample 1 unit first — order 1 via CIEF, see actual quality, time it (10–14 days door-to-door)
3. Test 10–20 units on Facebook ads / your existing page — measure response
4. Bulk to 50–100 units once you have signal
5. Track per-unit margin religiously — including BD courier, return rate, ad cost
